Dyson

During the early stages of the Covid pandemic, the UK government called upon Dyson to engineer 10,000 ventilators to help growing hospitalisation numbers. Dyson rose to the challenge of inventing a completely new machine in record timing. This required expertise
and a collaborative effort from Microsoft, TTP and Minttulip.

To mark the Dyson CoVent projects achievement, a poster design was commissioned, illustrating the collaboration and intricacy of the task at hand. The outcome shows Dyson's five stages of engineering and the individual process' that went into the CoVent machines invention. Distinctive characters were made up for each team, showing where the role of each company interact and provides support. The optical illusion of the composition itself shows the stages of refinement as the product goes through the five 'checkpoints' and eventually, out for delivery to where they're needed.

02. Solution

Giving each company their own avatar with a distinctive uniform summarised each role and responsibility, framed by Dysons five stages of product design.

Taking a very literal approach showed the CoVent machine going through stages of conceptualisation, materials, quality checks, build stages and assembling the final product.

Alongside this, information from the Dyson CEO detailed the necessity of the CoVent project and highlighted the achievements made by everyone involved.

03. Impact

This design was delivered to Dyson, Microsoft and TTP offices, gaining hundreds of impressions.

Engagement for this piece was just over two hundred scans of the QR code at the bottom of the design. This lead people to a webpage containing information on the collaborative tools that were used to achieve the CoVent outcome.

01. Challenge

The main challenge facing the design of this commission was to present each role at every stage of production with an accurate account of responsibility and understand where each company intersects.

The collaborative effort of each team had to be given an appropriate scenario that reflects their expertise whilst also maintaining the overall narrative and work flow.
